Flagstaff police announced that officers arrested a Mount Elden Middle School student on Monday after another student was attacked with a knife. Sgt. Jerry Rintala, a Flagstaff Police Department spokesperson, said the school initially went into lockdown before transitioning to a shelter in place order. Rintala said school staff secured the involved students and the knife before officers arrived and treated the injured student. Officers removed the student accused of the knife attack from the school, though it remains unclear what criminal charges the student may face.
